Dont Listen to the Bailiff?
Posted: 9th Sep 2012
Another week has passed and what a strange week it was with the lake turning once again on the flip of a coin on the Saturday change over. Mr Thompson one of our regulars arrived with Paul who came a few years back to pit their wits but it was a week of chasing? Tony has had the Grave Digger Common 3 times in as many years coming here, all on the same very unusual bait, but this time he brought something different and I'm not sure if it worked well? A garlic based bait was used and I hope Tony does not mind me saying but I just thought it did not seem effective. Now to mix things up even more the "OWNER" comes out with a statement that the fish are all over the lake and have been ripping the bottom up last week, but this week was not the case. Now picture Tony, he's built like a squat charolais Bull and tells it how it is, so the first thing he says to me on Tuesday morning is "good job I have been fshing here for the last 4 years otherwise I would think you're talking S--t"!!! Steady now.
Not a bubble to be seen most of the week and the fish laid low, and not the typical crashing at night which we have been hearing, but hey they change the plan when it suits them. The Guys finished on 21 fish with nearly all of them coming in the daylight hours, but it was a case of catching a few in quick succession and then the shoal spooked and it was a cat & mouse game all week, with them moving pegs like musical chairs.
If I'm right it was only the second week of the season which did not produce 40lb+ fish, so Tony you have let the side down mate!!!! Best went 39lb with 13 fish over 30lb+ (including 5 over 35lb+) 8 x 20lb+ (including 4 over 27lb+ & 2x 29lb+) no grassies on the bait and no pellet used this week, so did it make a difference?
All in all it was a great week with good company as always, and next year no doubt the secret bait will be back out?
The website is still being tweeked slowly and we still haven't got the facility to add pictures to the blog yet, but it's coming. Just remember to get yourself linked to our facebook page, which I know most of our regulars are linked to anyway, because that's where the picture uploads have been going over the last month!!!! Give them Thumbs up and show your support please.
Stockpond drain down soon, so I can see how those little Zander are coming on, along with some more interesting stuff coming soon.
Week 24 has kicked off and Graham one of my old fishing buddys from up sunny north is having it away in peg 3 from the off, so I will let you now how it unfolds after the rain storm coming on Tuesday.
Thats all Folks
