The Good The Bad & The Ugly!!!
Posted: 21st Oct 2012
What a week with so many ups & downs over the course of the week. The mixed group of 2 lots of 2 worked hard all week and even though 3 out of the 4 smashed their pb's, poor old Nick could not put a fish in the net. This has happened so few times I can count on one hand over the years of running the business, and believe you me angling ability had nothing to do with it. He fished his Nuts off all week but the fish did not want to pick up in pegs 2 & 3 this week, and luck was not on his side this time. Hopefully you will get your payback next visit Mate!!!!!!!
The week ended on 13 fish, but it's never about numbers at this time of the year. The best was Neils 49lb 12oz from peg 1 but Steve in 5 had a 48lb & the other Steve in 4 had a 45lb 2oz. 4 fish over 40lb+, 6x 30lb+ (to 39lb 8oz) & 3x20lb+ (to 29lb 12oz).
Quite a few fish lost this week which did effect the numbers and a good half dozen aborted takes, which was amended by increasing hook sizes to 4 & 5 and then every take resulted in a fish.
All in all, good company and fantastic weather for the time of the year and loads of wildlife spotted this week. The first Skein of Common Cranes passed by on Saturday, which will become a regular sight over the next few months, as they head south to Portugal for the winter. It is such a heartwarming sight as you can hear them in constant communication, as different birds move into lead position enroute, while flying over sometimes no more than 80 feet up above your head, fantastic.
Another regular group arrived at the weekend to pit their wits and with the weather so warm who knows what can happen. The fish are holding very tight in areas now it's late in the year with pinpoint accuracy paying off. Odyssey xxx and Sticky Baits gear and the Sanctuary Pellet doing the business this week.
Back Soon.
