When A Plan Comes Together

Posted: 24th Sep 2017

We have once again just had another fantastic weeks fishing on the 7 acre lake and lots of surprises are now being thrown up with the weed dying back by 80%. We have had no one fishing the 15 acre lake this week but we have exclusive bookings for the next 3 weeks so looking forward to seeing how the fish behave.

We had 3 chaps booking the smaller lake who have been here a couple of times in the past a few years ago, so it''s always enjoyable to catch-up with older customers who have been fishing other venues in recent years to hear feedback regarding how much the lake has matured.

Chris opted for Peg 2 leaving 1 vacant....Paul covered the centre part of the lake in 3 with Shaun moving between 4 & 5 over the course of the week. With a sudden change in the weather turning very Autumnal and blustery, possibly from the tail end of the Hurricanes battering the USA...the fish really switched on the feed, and with a careful baiting approach and a build up of their swims, the guys really started to get amongst some quality. It's not just numbers and size but the overall quality of the carps condition and fish that have not graced the bank either all season or longer was what really shone through this week.

I think the boys will happily agree it was the fishing of their lives. All the guys had 40lb+ fish, and it seemed a little more tricky for Shaun down the far end.....but Chris & Paul we picking up multiple fish per day.

I think the highlight for myself was when I asked Paul of all the fish caught this week which was the "ONE" for you, and his reply was the smallest of the week about 10lb....not a mention of his 46lb+ or the 50lb+ fish Chris had.....it was the perfect big-scaled linear with the colour of 24 carat gold that really stood out! & that's why we keep a handful of these beauties for the future.

32 carp landed along side a stonking Roach of around 2.5lb. Largest fish went 50lb 12oz...8 fish over 40lb+ including a 47lb,46lb......9 fish over 30lb+ with the rest being 20lb+ stockies. I have posted some of the pictures on Fb to show the fish caught, once again I'm starting to get really excitied about the future and the draindown has made a huge difference this season......we are not finished just yet and more serious fish will grace the bank before the season's over.
