Salty Balls

Posted: 11th Sep 2016

Well a bit of salt on your balls goes a long way i've been told!!! A couple of the regular chaps this week have been trying out a new bait and from the results it appears the fish seemed to love it! Once again Kev & Bod fished one end of the lake while Dave & John fished the other leaving 3 free this week. The fishing is now picking up each week and we are seeing good catches with the late season cooling of the weather....we have a couple of very hot days this week expected to touch mid 30oc but changing sharply afterwards so I would expect with good angling and thinking about your fishing that more good hits will keep coming.

3 of the 4 lads had upper 40s this week and some of the better fish are starting to show up regularly now......with weights still down after the summer late spawning I would expect them to fatten up later this year than normal. A few fish were lost this week due to one thing and another, but the 10 lost could have made a big difference if landed.....saying that, 32 fish this week with 10 over 40lb+ to 47lb 12oz, followed by 14 fish over 30lb+ up to 39lb....the remaining 8 fish being 20lb+. Once again a handful of stunning stockies caught that have not been added to the total but they look set to be over 20lb next year!

Once again getting the fish feeding was the key and the fish still seem to be coming from the soft areas of the lake bed that contain the bloodworm beds. The fish behaviour is very changeable at the moment with some nights the fish can be crashing all night long, while other nights it can be quiet. Same with the bubbling...you can wake to the lake surface glittering with surface bubbles from the carp rooting the bloodworm in the early hours, then the following day very little.

The fish are coming to the baited patches very quickly and you need to make sure your rigs are working otherwise they are cleaning "you out" within a few hours....that I'm certain of after last weeks fishing!

I will be posting a blog on the 15 acre lake this Tuesday with all the info you need.....but we will be opening for 2017 that is for certain, At last!!!!

Back in a few days
