Oliver Timberlake

Posted: 2nd Oct 2016

Another week comes to a close amid highs & lows, but overall it's been another good weeks fishing for the chaps apart from my well loved John Wilson special float rod getting some serious breakage this week:( Regular angler Dave booked the lake with another two new anglers, Dave opting for Peg 5 along with Justin Timberlake dropping into Peg 3 and adopting the nick-name Oliver after rustling a few Bad-boy meals for the boys this week keeping them all fed & watered! Steve dropped in Peg 1 and after losing a few fish followed by aborted takes and signs of fish on the baited patches he soon turned his luck around and broke his pb early in the week with a mirror of 43lb, followed by another new pb at 43lb 8oz.

The weather was very changeable this week and we had further high temps of mid 20oc and peaking on the thursday at 28oc which is hard to believe for the time of  year. The better fish all came between Monday - Wednesday with 7 fish over 40lb+ being landed with all of the chaps catching 40lb+ fish......but with the sharp rise in temps it turned the better fish off the feed towards the latter part of the week, then all change again with a storm rolling in late in the evening on Friday with flashes of lightning to be seen for miles and some heavy down pours of rain for short periods of time which seemed to trigger the feeding responses again with the chaps taking another 4 fish on the last night. Quite a few fish lost this week to one thing or another which effected the total a little but despite the unseasonal conditions the chaps did well with 2 new pb's broke making the week that bit sweeter. Lots of fish to be heard crashing through the dark hours around the lake, and with no one in Peg 4 again they seemed to have moved into the near margin with a few lumps giving the game away when all was quiet. The week total was 24 fish landed with two fish of 43lb 8oz being the largest along with another 5 over 40lb+. 4 fish over 30lb+ including 2 x upper 30s. 12 fish over 20lb+ with 5 being upper 20s including 2 of 29lb+. The chaps also landed 9 stockies under 20lb which have not been included but some of those fish were real stunners and fish off the future.

The weather is feeling a little fresher now after the storm so let's see how the 3 chaps who have booked the lake this week fair.

Back soon
