Late Season Slot.

Posted: 7th Jul 2013

Well another week comes to a close and it's been a week of laughs and good fun all round. Phil in Peg 3 seemed to be the most consistent taking the 3 fish over 40lb+ by fishing pellet and boilie off the tree line at the base of the far bank slope. I think his little and often approach combined with not fishing to close to the far bank played a part in his success. Paul never landed the Zander he was hoping for but did have a screaming run on the Roach live bait on the last night but did not connect with the culprit, which is a very common occurance with Zander, also the hooks pulling out happens a lot too with their very bony mouth. Either way Paul was great company and certainly had a vast knowledge about Predator fishing which was interesting to listen to, he also sneaked a few Carp out to upper 30lb from down in Peg 5 fishing bags and keeping very quiet indeed, good angling mate!!

All the lads smashed their pb's and Steve & Keith got plenty of beauty sleep and cups of Horlicks before bed!!

The week ended on 24 fish but lots of very spawned out fish brought the average weights down somewhat, but as to be expected after the events this year. The fish have still been spawning in small groups with the males hunting the odd female down that is still carring eggs. Maybe it will continue this week but it's very hard to predict this season the outcome of each week.

The fish do seem to be in good shape and fighting well, apart from that catch rates are starting to increase each week with signs of the fish feeding on naturals again, tail patterns and bubbling all around the lake and fish being caught in each swim which always balances things out for a group.

The weather is set to be very hot indeed this week with temps already into the 30s throughout the day time but the bottom looks like it has been ripped-up down in Pegs 4 & 5 over the night time so hopefully the lads on this week will get amongst them!!

We have a slot avalable for two anglers for the last week of the season which is the 27th Oct - 4th Nov 2013. With the weather running a month behind this year we might be in for an Indian summer and hopefully one or two big fish for the backend. This is the only slot left for this season so if you fancy a last minute fishing session for later this year, please get in touch.

That's All Folks.
