Down Time
Posted: 12th Jul 2015
Lack of updates? I know!!! Sorry for no blogs over the last two weeks but the fishery has been closed. We had made plans for this in 2014 to allow myself 1 week downtime working on the machines for the big lake project, followed by a much needed family holiday for all "Team Sanctuary" to unwind and recharge our batteries. So after a week of oil and grease, it was sunshine and saltwater, and straight back to business this week with a group of 4 anglers all a mixed group which is unusual for ourselves, but all seem happy and have managed to choose a preferred Peg for their weeks fishing. The weather has been very dry and hot over the last month with the temperatures at 32 - 35 degrees most days. The fish seem very active after a couple of weeks break which has never happened before so they have been turning the bottom over each day and really making the most of the natural food larder. Lots of bubbling taking place in most areas of the lake, and no weed to contend with this season, things are looking very positive for the year ahead. The chaps had 7 fish out last night which is a good start for the week, with a grassie and mirror of 32lb being the largest so far, but its very early days indeed.
I have attached a picture of the empty half of the big lake, ready for the work to start tomorrow morning, the lake bed is dry at last and hopefully we can push ahead and finish the job inhand. I will be updating the FB page each week of pictures in progress, both good and bad, so get ready for machines being towed out of the black holes in the lake bed, along with forming new islands and cut-outs ready for the new pegs. So wish me luck and if this year goes to plan we will be taking bookings next year(2016) ready for opening the large lake for the start of 2017.
Back soon with more pictures and tales at the end of next week.
