Another Brace Of 50lbs

Posted: 16th May 2017

It's been another very unsettled week weather wise with the heavy rain arriving at last after a very dry period, cold, warm you name it, we had it this week. The wind again playing a strong role in keeping temps low and this in turn reduced water temps back down to 14oc from 16oc. The fish seemed to be at both ends of the lake once again and the man of the match has to go to Spencer this week. Last year Steve had a brace of 50s, and this time the tables turned making life hard for Steve in Peg 3, but inturn Spencer was consistant each day and broke most of his pbs. His first 50lb fell around midweek, followed by another straight afterwards to 51lb 8oz.He fished with conviction this week, resting the swim, feeding little and often and only using one rod down to the right of the swim to reduce numbers of lines. In turn Spencer was rewarded with the 50s, followed by a new pb grassie of 42lb+ and a pb common of 41lb 10oz. You do need the fish in front of you but that doesn't mean you will have a good hit without using a little extra thought and care about how you fish. I see many occasions when the fish are in a particular swim and the angler does not make the most of the given situation....they are catchable but this season they are teasing even more so! Guy managed to pick off a few fish in Peg 1 along with a few fish lost this week giving a weekly total of 15 fish landed, the 2 x50lb fish being the largest to 51lb+, 3 over 40lb+ along with 30s & 20s making the rest of the numbers up.

The fish are looking in good shape so far and the extra natural food has given them a very nice boost so far this season.

This week has seen a nice change with full sunshine and temps into the high 20s, it's changed very quickly indeed and my fish in the stockpond are looking a little frisky, if it continues I'm hoping they will start spawning but the water temps need to level out for a few weeks before they do so.

We have just had another another group of regulars leave, once again some lovely fish coming out along with another big fish and some absolute stunners.

Back soon with more info
