Franky Four Fingers!

Posted: 24th Oct 2016

Well what a week its just been concidering we are now late in the season and only one week away from closing. I guess when any group book the lake they are hoping for all the elements to aline and this week was just the case for the boys but more so for Matt in Peg 1. Once again this Peg has produced the goods and he really could do no wrong making it look easy at times!! This was the first time the 3 chaps had been to the fishery so they were expecting it to be tough going!! Well in the end they all smashed a pb which cannot be bettered and some stunning fish graced the bank once again. Not taking anything away from the chaps they all rested and baited the swim as recommended and it did pay off.

Now I'm sure the lads don't mind me saying but they were cheeky chaps of the higest order....so as you can image never a dull moment all week and Franky Four fingers in Peg 3 could have sold snow to an eskimo, one of lifes true characters for sure and a cracking laugh!

Plenty of good fish caught but also the highest number of C3 carp that have been caught this year which I put down to the bait to be honest. Matt was having lots of fish on two small 10mm baits which allowed the small ones to pick it up and set the hook.....but when the big girls moved in they too made the same mistake! The bulk of the fish seemed to be down in Peg 1 maybe due to the cold nights dropping the water temp. Franky seemed to pick off far less fish but of a better average size....Brad had a slow start in Peg 5, but with a few tweeks and plenty of effort watching the water he soon started to turn the week around and he deserved every fish!Largest fish of the week came to Matt at 49lb 8oz, along with Franky landing a 45lb 11oz & 43lb both off the same small patch. Brad managed his largest of the week being an upper 30lb on the last night! 30 good fish landed this week along with 23 stockies under 20lb which I have not included. It also goes to show we are now ready for draining to remove the unwanted fish and it will be interesting to see what the lake holds. Best looking fish for me was stunning c4 fully scaled for Brad...just stunning.

For the time of the year it was a great weeks fishing... 3 new pbs, 4 fish over 40lb+ to 49lb 8oz, 6 fish over 30lb+ to 38lb and 20 x 20lb to 29lb 12oz.

We are now into the last week but just need the weather to settle again.....we have been close to a frost again Sunday night with a bitter eastly wind, but its now changed again & with a full day of rain today and feeling very mild again....poor fish don't know whats going on!

back soon
